Before you say “ew, gross,” hear me out. In our house, we always have at least one full cup of coffee leftover in the bottom of the pot. Yes, this is wasteful. Somehow I can’t seem to brew the amount that we actually drink. I always think I’m going to drink more than I actually do. And I end up reheating the same cup of coffee 3 times and still don’t finish it. Ree-diculous. But back to the point.

If you also find yourself with leftover coffee on a somewhat regular basis, consider putting the leftover brew to other good uses. Like…
Iced coffee. Collect your daily leftover coffee into a container and stick it in the fridge. When you need an afternoon pick-me-up, shake or stir the container and pour your cold coffee over ice (preferably coffee ice cubes, see below). Add creamer, milk, chocolate syrup and sugar, to your liking.
Coffee ice cubes. Pour leftover coffee into an ice cube tray. Use your coffee ice cubes to cool down a piping hot cup of coffee (especially helpful if you drink it black). Or, use the ice cubes in your iced coffee drink. Or, if you’re the “night cap” sort of person, drop a few cubes into a drink with Baileys or Kahlua…mmm. Or (last one, I promise), throw a few cubes into a blender and make a coffee milk shake. Cheaper than a Starbucks Frappuccino!

We are in the habit of having ice coffee the day after the hot coffee. I can’t stand wasting coffee, the good beans i like are just so expensive! I am just in the habit of putting the coffee carafe in the fridge, and using it the next day with ice, cream and sugar.
P~
I do the same thing with extra coffee. My best coffee reuse to date? Using it to make mocha cupcake icing!
I am a big ice coffee drinker and there is always a pitcher of coffee (from leftovers) in the fridge. If I feel like I need it hot I just zap it. All the coffee I want with no waste! Will have to try using it to flavor frosting ~ sounds good!
lingzhi coffee is one of the best from DXN.
I can’t imagine anyone saying, “ew, gross”. I love iced coffee and always save the last cup from the pot.
I do the iced coffee thing in the afternoon with my leftover coffee. LOVE the ice cube idea – gonna have to try that!
P.S. Just added you to my blogroll – finally!
I love your ideas, especially the ice cube idea!
OK, I keep intending to make coffee ice cubes — maybe your post will be the inspiration I need!
I make banana bread with coffee instead of other liquid (recipe from the Moosewood Cookbook) – it is really good.
Coffee ice cubes are the best!
Oooh, I bet the coffee gave it a nice, rich flavor. Yum!
