When it comes to packing snacks for a road trip, here’s a little tip: use repurposed containers instead of Ziploc bags. Containers like yogurt tubs, sour cream tubs, small coffee cans and the like, will go a lot further to keep snacks fresh and keep them from becoming crushed (Goldfish cracker crumbs are really messy!). And these kinds of containers are easily reusable — not just to pack snacks in for your return trip home, but when they’re empty, your kids can use them as bath or pool toys, you can use them as mini trash bins or as DIY take-out carriers for leftover restaurant meals (however, don’t heat any food in these containers — they aren’t meant to withstand the microwave).
